چکیده

A young girl first attended for eye examination on January 8, 1953, when she was 9 years of age. The visual acuity of each eye was 6/6, there was no error of refraction, and the fundi were recorded as normal. She was again examined on January 2, 1958, at the age of 14 years, when she was complaining of defective vision in the right eye. This eye had 2-25 D sph. myopia, which accounted for the visual defect. The refraction of the left eye was still emmetropic. In the right fundus an artery pierced the lower part of the lamina cribrosa, crossed the centre of the optic disc, and joined the upper division of the central retinal artery behind its first bifurcation (Figure). No doubt this artery had been overlooked at the previous examination. With the slit lamp and Hruby lens, the contained blood column had a granular

Disc edge veins of Kraupa associated with optic disc drusen

OBJECTIVE Disc edge veins of Kraupa are a rare anomaly of the retinal venous system in which the main trunk of the retinal vein disappeared into the margin of the optic disc instead of its centre. METHODS A 40-year-old woman was detected to have an anomaly in her left optic disc in a routine eye examination. The eyes had an anomaly of the retinal venous system in which all branches of the ret...

An Isolated Prepapillary Arterial Looping Malformation

An unusual retinal arterial malformation is presented in this case report. A 50-years-old female with no significant past medical history, presented with an unusual retinal arterial malformation without any vision loss in the right eye. Inferior temporal retinal artery had a corkscrew like looping and extension to vitreous cavity at its emerging site from optic disc. Fundus fluorescein angiogra...

Occlusion of a pre-retinal arterial loop.

A CONGENITAL vascular anomaly in which one of the main branches of the central retinal artery forms a pre-retinal loop at the optic disc before being distributed in the normal manner has been described by several authors (Liebreich, 1871; Leber, 1915; Bisland, 1953). The condition is usually first noticed on routine examination of an otherwise normal fundus, and remains symptomless throughout l...

Automatic Optic Disc Center and Boundary Detection in Color Fundus Images

Accurately detection of retinal landmarks, like optic disc, is an important step in the computer aided diagnosis frameworks. This paper presents an efficient method for automatic detection of the optic disc’s center and estimating its boundary. The center and initial diameter of optic disc are estimated by employing an ANN classifier. The ANN classifier employs visual features of vessels and th...
